iTunes Editors’ Notes

If John Hughes ever makes a teen movie for the iPod generation, he needs to nab Chromeo for the soundtrack. Aside from looking and acting like Revenge of the Nerds castmates, the Montreal-bred duo crafts totally '80s tunes that sound as if they were lifted from a stack of Reagan-era 12-inches. That includes their finest tune yet: the title track of Fancy Footwork, a loosen-up-and-get-live anthem for anyone that's ever considered cutting some rug at a homecoming dance … or 10-year high school reunion. The bonus disc of greatest hits/remixes that have been tacked onto the deluxe edition of Chromeo's second full-length is a value platter of post-Hall & Oates pop, sprinkled with bits of golden age electro, new-wave, and hip-hop, and it includes everything from MSTRKRFT's arena rave version of "Tenderoni" to Dave 1's vocal turn on DJ Mehdi's decidedly old-school "I Am Somebody." Now stop being a wallflower and start "showing her (or him) you're that kind of guy."

Customer Reviews

It's Chromeee It's Chomeeee It's Chromeoeoeoooo!!!

If you don't like Chromeo, then please just go back to your mindless factory produced crap they play on the radio! I give Chromeo 5 Stars! I have all of their music, and I can't get enough! Their retro sound, combined with fun modern lyrics make them unique to the pop/electronic world. In my opinion it takes a lot more talent to do something different and sound good, than to sound like every other group on the radio!

Funky Fresh

These guys are great. Amazing production and fun lyrics. If you're a Chromeo fan, you should also check "Electrofly" by Mr. Ozwald... that'll be right up your alley too :)

sounds like old school funk music to me, not electronic.... good stuff

Electro-funk duo Chromeo formed in Montreal in the early 21st century, a project of former hip-hop producers Dave One and Pee Thug (news flash: not their given names). Dave handled guitars and vocals; Pee was the talkbox-wielding synth specialist. From the beginning, Chromeo made it clear that the name of their well-dressed game would be artful detachment, earnest songwriting, retro breakdowns, and gleaming plastic beats — not serious intent or aggressive musical-regime change.
