iTunes Review

By shifting its songwriting approach from acoustic guitar to drum rhythms and keyboard textures, Ivy creates a comeback that’s been six years in the making. From the opening dance beats of “Distant Lights,” it’s clear that this is a rejuvenated team. Singer Dominique Durand retains her cool, affecting delivery, and Fountains of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger and Andy Chase can still write songs that never forget the hooks. The overall emphasis in sound is altered, but the same talents come into focus. “World Without You” is a perfectly cool tune for the nightclub vibe. “How’s Never” explores the 1980s revival that’s hit the 2000s with unusual force. “You Make It So Hard” aims more for the twee pop of Belle & Sebastian. “Lost in the Sun” rumbles through the night air with a sultry pop-to-disco feel. “She Really Got To You” pumps with a modern pop beat, proving that while elements of the group are retro, Ivy is clearly in the here and now.

long over due, but well worth the wait!

caramel for my hears. positively melting with each listen.

The wait was worth it. All hits, no misses! As an entire album, their best work since Apartment Life, IMO.

Has not missed a beat

After a few years to hear new material, Ivy has not missed a beat and continues in true form their great sound. I always worry when groups disappear for a while then come back, Ivy stays true to their sound. Welcome back! .....and to sound greedy , keep em coming ;)

Musician/songwriter Adam Schlesinger answered Chase, for the two had mutual musical tastes -- both liked Prefab Sprout and the Go-Betweens. Within months, the two met Parisian-born Dominique Durand. Durand had come to New York in 1989 to learn English, not join a band. Ironically enough, Durand was a massive music fan and adored the sounds of...
