iTunes Review

Paul Wall has called Fast Life his most mature album to date, and while that doesn’t mean he’s traded street rap for a career like Common’s, his third record is a carefully crafted work of Houston hip-hop. Anchored by three immeasurably thick slices of Texas toast —“Got to Get It,” “One Hundred” and “I’m Clean”—Fast Life allows Wall to try some new things. While “Bizzy Body” and “Fly” are custom-built club tracks, “Daddy Wasn’t Home” features the most vulnerable lyrics of Wall’s career, and adds another classic to the ever-growing list of hip-hop tributes to mom. Former blink-182 drummer Travis Barker shows up to produce the metal-infused “I Need Mo” and “Pop One of These,” the later of which is an amped-up hybrid of classic electro and Bay Area hyphy. Unlike some of his Houston comrades, Wall doesn’t stray too far from what he knows best. He understands his limits, and knows how to maximize his strengths, which makes Fast Life a well-balanced, unpretentious serving of Southern rap.

Its Hot

I Like Da CD It Was Bangin. Sumthin That Get Ya System Bumpin With Nice Beats

WARNING to Itunes

First, this is a great album for sure, with some of the greatest beats and verses for the summer. THe only thing is the price, why are all the songs 1.29. This is going to bring death to the music industry. Why would you raise prices during a depression. SMARTIN UP ITUNES. BEFORE YOU KILL HIP HOP.

Not That Good

Paul Wall should spend more time writing better lyrics and less time making grillz

MC and DJ Paul Wall (born Paul Slayton) grew up as a hardcore disciple of fellow Houstonian DJ Screw and became so familiar with the pioneering DJ's woozy, slowed-down style of remixing that he had to adjust to hearing hip-hop at any other tempo. Prior to making a nationwide breakout in 2005 with a guest spot on Mike Jones' "Still Tippin'" and his Swishahouse/Atlantic Records debut, The Peoples Champ, Wall was involved with promotional street teams, DJed parties, put together underground mixtapes,...
