Nice to listen to - and good for studying French!

My French teacher used a sheet of the lyrics from "Léa" with some of the words blanked out as a listening exercise. We tried to fill in the missing words as she played the CD. The homophones and rhymes in idiomatic French alongside the music had me hooked - I went home and bought the album! Sometimes haunting, sometimes hypnotic, sometimes very lively - and you don't even have to speak French to like it.

très bien fait

Un travail avec des fauts, comme tout. C'est excellent néanmoins, c'est triste et triomphant en même temps. Chaque chanson est fantastique.

Great driving rock

This album has been one of my favorites for years. The songs are tight and clear, drawing you into the feelings of angst and loss, but then driving and musical enough to pull you back out and leave you feeling cleansed and ready to go again. Favorites are the angry and hurt 'J't'emmene au vent', the "ride" of 'Fatigante', and the manic "Les nuits parisiennes'. I didn't realize the band (and album) name was in part a tribute to the Violent Femmes, or that Gordon Gano had produced this album until recently. The connection comes through more in the shared spirt than in the sound itself. Both use stripped-down basic rock to produce a visceral sound of angst and energy combined.
