iTunes Review

Working with Jay-Z on 2004’s Collision Course album gave Linkin Park leader Mike Shinoda the perfect in to pursue Fort Minor, which Jay-Z executive-produced. Many heavy hitters make an appearance including Common, John Legend and Black Thought. “Feel Like Home,” “Back Home” and “Believe Me” hold hip-hop bounce, hard-rock intensity, and storytelling virtuosity in easy balance.

Somone finally got rap right.

I have never been a rap fan in my life, but I'll tell anyone I can about this album. I still have a hard time believing this IS rap because of its content. While _some_ language might not be suitable for all ages, this is finally an album where I don't have to hear about non-existant gang wars, drugs, and "skeet." Head-bopping beats with a message that's finally worth listening to. Sweet.

An Album To Live By...

Finally! The Rising Tied has it the shores! This long awaited album was worth the wait. Yes, this is pure hip-hop, but it's not like generic, main stream hip-hop. The beats are smooth, and for me personally, a little soothing. With sinister stings, sweeping guitar riffs, deep bass lines, and beautiful piano, makes it seem like this album single handedly turns rap into real, man made music, not so much computer generated. And not only is the music killer, the lyrics that Mike, Tak, Ryu, and the rest of the gang spit out is some of the most inspiring, heart felt and down right out of control stuff I've herd in a long time! From a song about long distance relationships (Where'd You Go), to one about WWII Japanese interment camps (Kenji). This album deals with issues that Shinoda felt was not Linkin Park appropriate. All though a lot of that Linkin Park style does come out in this album. The track Red To Black is the best example. The track features a full band and appearances from Kenna and Jonah Matranga, who's style reflects Chester of Linkin Park. Also, LP's DJ, Joe Hann, makes a appearance on Spilt It Out The Back. This album has everything! It's in my opinion the best album of 2005! Inspirational, down to earth, cool, and just flat out hot! Also Check out the limited editon cd that features 3 extra tracks (Be Somebody, There They Go, & The Hard Way) and a special behind the scenes dvd. And if your looking for and little more edgy, raw, and crazy side of Fort Minor, check out there mixtape, We Major, Which was created by DJ Green Lantern. The tape features many classic and modern rock songs remixed and turned into some of the craziest rap songs ever!

Classic, but the booklet is corrupted!!!

I've been listening to this record non-stop for the last 10 days... It is THAT sick. Seriously... Non-stop. How disappointing it was to see that there was an interactive digital booklet, but it downloads as a corrupted file!!! What can a kid do? I downloaded it specifically for the booklet, now i don't have it!

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '00s

In November 2005, Linkin Park co-founder Mike Shinoda debuted as a solo artist with Rising Tied, an ambitious collection credited to his alter ego, Fort Minor, that blended hip-hop with electronics and rock elements. The set was exec-produced by Jay-Z, who had previously collaborated with Shinoda and Linkin Park on 2004's Collision Course. Tied also featured plenty of guests like Common and John Legend, as well as newer artists from Shinoda's Machine Shop imprint. The album was a labor of love for...
