Reseña de álbum

British soulstress Des'ree caused little more than a ripple with her 1992 debut, Mind Adventures, but caught fire with her sophomore effort, I Ain't Movin', and the smash single "You Gotta Be." The uplifting song was a U.S. Top Five hit and best exemplified Des'ree's smooth blend of pop/R&B music and power-of-positive thinking lyrical style. Nothing else on I Ain't Movin' manages to endear itself quite as much, but it's hardly a washout. Des'ree possesses a pleasing vocal delivery and it serves her well on songs like the slinky, mid-tempo "Feel So High," the breezy "Little Child," the hypnotic groove of "Trip on Love," and the confessional title cut. Some of the lyrics are a bit half-baked and fail to achieve much depth and the production is a bit slick at times, but not enough to mar an otherwise satisfying release.

You Gotta Be

this is how music used to be. this is how music still should be. you gotta be is inspirational and displays talent. this is the kind of stuff america should still be listening to. music's going down the drain, but at least we have some of the good remains left, like des'ree.

I Ain't Movin

I used to listen to this album all the time when I was little. Ha that almost defines my age. Songs like You Gotta Be and I Ain't Movin are catchy and soulful. This is her most popular album for me as far as music and lyrics go. Good album.

Beautiful Music

I purchased this album in 1992. I am adding it back to my collection in 2008. Outstanding music!!

Setting uplifting songs of love and modern-city life to a mid-tempo, hook-laden blend of reggae, calypso, rap, and British pop, Des'ree reached the upper echelon of British R&B. Although she failed to reach an American audience with her 1992 duet with Terence Trent D'Arby, "Delicate" (in the U.K. it was a Top Ten hit), her second album, I Ain't Movin' (1994), went platinum, led by "You Gotta Be." The inspirational song spent 80 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The singer maintained her momentum...
