Bleeps and Bloops? Music is music regardless the instrument.
Ah, the age of the NES. Much of my childhood was spent playing that system, and evern beyond that. Out of the age of the NES came much of the vido game franchises we know and love, Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Castlevania, Final Fantasy the list goes on. And in this time the music of much of those great franchises was born. I remember the main Mario Bros. Theme from Super Mario Bros., I remember the Brinstar theme from Metroid, the overworld theme from Zelda, and I still remember much of the themes from Final Fantasy. And to top it off much of the original NES music far beats the remixes we've seen of them. For instance I've yet to see a good remix of the Nrofair theme from Metroid, not even on the remake. Point is this soundtrack is one of the best to come out of the NES, and it's wodnerful to beable to listen to it. Bleeps and Bloops it may be, but these bleeps and bloops create melody, harmony. They do create music, and these were masterfully written like many of the great musics of the NES time (not that all were good, some NES music was utter crap). This is a solid soundtrack well worth the $6 to anyone who's played the game, and having heard the PS version's music I can safely say I like this somewhat betetr at times. It's nostolgic, and it's good in it's own right.
It's about as great as you want it to be!
Folks, let's not get things confused here. This is the soundtrack to an NES game. It's amusing to see some reviewers show their age when they reference the music to the Gameboy because they were not old enough to enjoy how great music was on the original NES. To today's standard the music is definitely simple and repetitive, but that's now what this album is about. This is all about the Original Soundtrack so listeners can reminisce about old times. Brings back memories and that's what its there for.
This album is just the beginning but it is sitll a classic. Without this music the Final Fantasy legacy would have never made it as far as it has.
