Eyes on This One

The Piano Collections soundtrack outstrips the OST in nearly every way, adding more emotion, beauty, and inspiration to the tracks. While FFVIII's Piano Collections isn't the series' greatest, it's still wonderfully arranged and performed and creates a simply lovely atmosphere. "Blue Fields" starts the CD off and is about a million times better than the OST version, evoking far more emotion and capturing the overall tone of the game better. "Eyes on Me" is very atmospheric and sounds as though it could be played in a coffee shop, and is followed by one of the sountrack's jewels "Fisherman's Horizon." "Succession" falls short compared to other tracks, and "Ami" sounds remarkably like elevator music, but "Shuffle or Boogie" totally rocks: the country sound is a real treat. "Find Your Way" is very atmospheric; "The Oath" is very important-sounding, and "Silence and Motion" is far better on the piano than in the OST, but the trio of songs following--"The Castle," "The Successor," and "Ending Theme" are really amazing. In fact, if there's only one song you could download, make is "The Successor"--it's stunning. "Slide Show" is quirkly and lighthearted but not as enjoyable as "Shuffle." Purchase this album; you won't regret it. And, imagine wowing your friends after learning to PLAY these great songs!

An Investment Worth Investing In

If there's one thing Final Fantasy is known for, it's the music. Every single one has a breathtaking soundtrack... but VIII's piano soundtrack blows everything else out of the water. You want soothing? Fisherman's Horizon is for you. You want beautiful? Eyes On Me. You want dancier? Shuffle or Boogie. You want catchy? Slide Show, Pt. 2. This album has just about everything. My only complaint would be the lack of a true fast-paced song, but the rest of the beautiful melodies make up for that. All in all, if you're looking for some beautiful music, look no further than this soundtrack.

Incredible soundtrack

Greatest music for the greatest FF game.
