iTunes Review

When Kenny Loggins began working with Gary Burr on “How About Now”—the bookending tune to Blue Sky Riders’ 2013 debut album, Finally Home—Loggins remarked that he hadn’t felt a vocal blend this brotherly since he first sang with Jim Messina in 1971. Besides Loggins and Burr (a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member), this group includes Georgia Middleman, a renowned singer/songwriter with soaring inflections. The resulting tracks resonate with a harmonic chemistry as rich as that of Crosby, Stills & Nash. And though their music is warm with rootsy instruments, twangy tones, and perfect three-part harmonies, Blue Sky Riders are one of very few bands that balance traditional sounds with a forward-thinking songwriting approach. So while the opening title track, “I’m a Rider (Finally Home),” resonates with the sonic familiarity of AM radio from the '70s, the song hooks grapple like modern Nashville pop glistening through crystalline production. “Feelin’ Brave” is another standout. Bolstered by near-tribal drumming, this song contrasts a restrained groove with uplifting melodies braided together by those three amazing voices. Fans of Little Big Town will appreciate “Dream.”

BSR - My Rock Stars

Cant wait for the cd in January 2013.Saw BSR twice this year, I absolutely love this band. Always loved Kenny Loggins, now I love Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr. Great harmonies. Now this is what us "old folk" call good music

Finally Home is Finally Here

Well, almost.

Who remembers great lyrics, songs that you love to sing along with (because you can follow the melody) and the most wonderful harmonies since, since,...Well, it's been so long, you've forgotten?

Did I mention that you can understand every lyric to every song? How long has it been since *THAT'S* happened? Do you know who the members of this super trio are? No? Let me tell you.

First off, it was the incredible Kenny Loggins who conceived the notion of putting a band together after singing and songwriting with Nashville "Songwriter Hall of Fame's," Gary Burr. Burr is known for having written songs for artists Juice Newton, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Garth Brooks and Wynonna, to name a few.

After Gary signed on with Loggins, they enlisted the mighty talent of Georgia Middleman, a singer/songwriter in her own right. Her writing credits appear on the albums of Radney Foster, Tracy Lawrence and Keith Urban. Did I mention that she is one powerhouse of a vocalist?

The result of these three mega talents combined is Blue Sky Riders and here's what I know. This record will go down in the books as one of those that you will remember the first time you heard it, attempted to sing along with and, of course, had to circle the block an extra time or two simply to groove on the vibe of these three as they sing their hearts out loud.

We've all been waiting for a tasty treat like this one. Like I said, Finally Home is finally here. Well, almost.

Superstar Writers. Superstar Vocalists, Finally, something fresh and true!

What can you say when a group of world class, Grammy winning, musicians get together. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!!
One of the few times that artists of this caliber get together, leave it all, give it all, and it's us music fans that benefit! Thank you BLUE SKY RIDERS. It's about time that the craft of writing great songs is back!!

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '10s

Kenny Loggins may give Blue Sky Riders star power but he doesn't overwhelm the trio he formed with Nashville-based singer/songwriters Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman in the early years of the 2010s. Loggins collaborated with Burr -- a professional songwriter who began his career as the lead singer for Pure Prairie League during the mid-'80s -- on the former's 2008 album How About Now, an experience that went so well, Loggins decided to form an official partnership with the songwriter. Burr brought...
