iTunes Review

The tense, blocky beats we've come to know from Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre have only become tenser and blockier on Curtis. 50 Cent has achieved riches beyond anyone's wildest dreams, and his dominant lyrical theme remains his own massive success, yet there is something tortured and restless in the rhythms of "Man Down" and "Straight to the Bank" that suggests a man banging his head against the walls of a cage. Beneath its million-dollar bravado, perhaps Curtis is a concept album about its author's confinement in a self-imposed psychological cell? Regardless of your personal interpretation, 50's third album fully represents everything the rapper stands for. The grimy sonics of "I Get Money" and "Ayo Technology" offer disorienting thrills, but the album's best tracks come towards the end. 50 hits his stride on the Mary J. Blige duet "All of Me," while "Curtis 187" begins to resemble something the RZA might have devised. The current of terrific frustration — confirmed by the close-up portrait on the album's cover — suggests that wealth has done little to resolve this man's inner demons.

50 Cent CURTIS (ignore the iTunes review)

It doesn't know what the iTunes review is talking about. First of all, Before I Self Destruct is not this album's original name. He made this one after he finished that one. BISD is planned to be released in March of 2008(yes that soon, but he's been recording it since '06). This is really a great album. Yes it is mostly about killing, but you would expect that coming from his background, hence the album being named after him. He is in no way a sell out. The only sell out song on here is Amusement Park because he's trying to recreate Candy Shop. But who can blame him? It was #1!! You can't call him bad for making slightly softer or clubbier songs aimed at charts. So what? Is he supposed to not put is name out there and hope that people will but his album without having heard a single song on the radio? AYO Technology is clearly going to be most people's favorites, along with I Get Money. He has very violent but passionately aggressive lyrics in some others. I don't agree with iTunes that I Still Kill is bad. It's very raw and emotional. HE IS STILL HUNGRY!! Follow My Lead is another one aimed at the charts. It is sort of like a 21 Questions part 2. Movin On Up is one of my favorites despite not being a very popular one off this album. In fact, a lot of the ones that aren't singles are some of my favorites. Fully Loaded Clip is a great and funny name dropping track and Fire is a really fun song to listen to. All of Me and Curtis 187 are probably the best written tracks on the album. All of Me is very soulful and 187 is very Ghetto with cool beat. Touch the Sky could have been better without Yayo on it because 50 does well on it. Straight to the Bank was the first single and I'm not sure why it didn't become more popular. 50 spits really well on it. The weakest tracks are Come & Go (it's just weird) and Peep Show (only for the Eminem die hards). The actual version of Man Down, Officer Down, is a lot better and it kind of makes me angry that they have to cut out some of the lyrics. Although, I guess you have to be really hardcore to have a censored song on an explicit album. The remix at the end is fun but nothing special (Diddy is just not that good). All in all, this is very strong work and I expect his next album to be even better (check out the "Ready for War" instrumental on YouTube that is going to be on BISD!!) Also check out the video for I Still Kill (the video is called Still Will for TV purposes), G-Unit Radio 25, Buck the World, Rotten Apple, and G-Unit's album dropping 12/18/07 "Shoot to Kill"!!!!

Fiddy, u did great

50 cent has a great album here. However, he should use less synths, and go for the effect created by his unique voice. I know about the beef between Kanye and 50 about the albums, but they should forget it. They both made great albums. J-spec..... Fiddy's album is better... hahahha

Biography

Born: July 6, 1975 in Queens, New York, NY

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Though he would later struggle with the nature of his fame as well as market expectations, 50 Cent endured substantial obstacles throughout his young yet remarkably dramatic life before becoming the most discussed figure in rap, if not pop music in general, circa 2003. Following an unsuccessful late-'90s run at mainstream success (foiled by an attempt on his life in 2000) and a successful run on the New York mixtape circuit (driven by his early-2000s bout with Ja Rule), Eminem signed 50 Cent to a...
