Album Review

Lisa Loeb's debut, Tails, didn't always deliver on the promise of her first single, "Stay," drifting into generic alt-pop territory when it should have played up her lilting, melodic soft side. Firecracker, her second record, is a better album. For starters, it's considerably more eclectic, with a varied, textured production ranging from jangly folk-pop and pounding rockers to lush pop. There are a number of strong moments on the record that confirm Loeb is a talented melodicist.

Customer Reviews

One of the best acoustic albums I have...

Among all the CD's Lisa has produced this one shines out to me as being the best. The words are well-crafted, the music haunting and emotive, so even though I've had this Cd for some years - I keep returning to it again and again. I highly recommend it!!!

nice!

i agree with dorfer--if you buy one of her cds, this is the one to get. my favorites are "This", "Split Second" and "Truthfully". i give this only three stars because i am a picky thing, and this isn't really my kind of music anyway. it's an interesting album though, check it out.

Amazing

Lisa Loeb is an amazing artist. I always loved her music but overlooked this album...until now. I listened to it the other night and I've been hooked ever since. It's organic, emotional, and simply brilliant.

Born in Dallas, Loeb studied piano as a child but later switched to guitar. At Brown University, she studied music theory and played as a duo with her roommate, Elizabeth Mitchell (who went on to garner indie accolades...
