Rootsy Goodness

Excellent collaboration from some of New Orleans’ finest songwriters. Excursions into folk, blues-rock, and country with a distinctive Louisiana lilt. Not overtly stylized; just good honest music that will put a smile on your face.

Hoo, doggies!

This CD has been in my earbuds since it was released this morning. I've driven around LA with it, had morning coffee and lunch alone with it, done my laundry with it and ... I love it. The idea of four of New Orleans' finest songwriters singing each others' stuff is brilliant and generous in the same way that New Orleans is brilliant and generous. Everyone's going to say that this is NOLA's Traveling Wilburys album. They'd be right, but this is better and cleaner and more honest than that charming knockoff.

Buy this thing. You'll be happily surprised.

Fantastic!

What an unbelievable aggregation of warm voices and genius songwriters. Do yourself a favor and buy this album immediately. If you know these gentlemen, then you know why you should. If you don’t know them, this is great way to begin learning … then go buy everything else they’ve all done. Alex McMurray slays Jim McCormick’s “New Orleans,” Paul Sanchez does a lovely version of McMurray’s “Wedding Day,” Specer Bohren takes on the title track from one of the best album’s of all time, “Jet Black and Jealous,” and McCormick pays lovely tribute to Bohren’s "Borrowed Time.” Plus, these guys put there minds together for a slew of perfect original Write Brothers numbers. Classic album. Love it.
