Album Review

Andrew Lloyd Webber's song cycle Tell Me on a Sunday, starring Marti Webb, was first produced as a television program on the BBC in January 1980. Later, it was combined with a dance piece set to Lloyd Webber's cello variations on Paganini's "A-Minor Caprice" and staged in London and New York under the name Song and Dance.

Denise is wonderful!

I saw this show when it played in London's West End a few years back, and Denise Van Outen was a joy to watch live. I immediately bought the album, and have enjoyed it since. Denise has a very good vocal and is also able to convey the feelings and emotions of each song very well. My favorites were "You Made Me Think You Were In Love" and "Somewhere, Someplace, Sometime."

Not the original, but still ok

Although this is not the original Marti Webb version (available on the U.K. and German I-Tunes), it is still just ok. There are many additions from the original version, but these additions don't always work well. The song "Haven in the Sky" has a good beat, but is just banal as far as melody and lyrics go. "Unexpected Song" is arranged well, but the singer's voice pales in comparison to Bernadette Peters' rendition of the song in the Original Broadway Cast. This album could have been a lot better, because Lloyd Webber has good material, it just has been "revised" over and over again that much of the feel from the original is lost. Please I-Tunes get the original Tell Me On A Sunday from 1980 with Marti Webb. It is available to England and Germany, now let America hear it! It's far better than any other version available, even though there are not as many songs on that version, it is quality material.

Gawd aweful!

HORRIBLE! Her voice is worse than nails on a chalkboard. Not because it's that nagging British voice, but because she has no idea what rhythm, tone, pitch, or how to keep a beat.
Just horrible. I'm guessing the only people who will actually listen to this are fans of sex & the city. And $12, give me a break.
