Album Review

Steve Stevens is well-known as one of the supreme architects of heavy rock & roll guitar, as his epic performances on Billy Idol's hits such as "White Wedding" and "Eyes Without a Face" readily attest. This solo album is a wonderful surprise. Stevens' explorations into classical and flamenco music will certainly catch a lot of people off guard, but that's probably precisely the point. Stevens wails and floats through the tracks here with a snake-like abandon, mostly on classical, nylon-string guitar. Flamenco.A.Go.Go also borders on being a dance record, and the rhythms and tempos will no doubt grab every listener. It's mostly an instrumental album, although there are a few wonderful vocal sections. In the end, you have a wondrous, exploratory album which presents one of the finest guitarists of the last 20 years flexing his muscles and stretching his creativity. Fabulous.

Fresh!!

I loved "Memory Crash" so much that I wanted to find more Steve Stevens work and got this. Your first impression might be that this is elevator music, but give it a chance. Steve shows off his incredible creativity and versatility. it's a mix of classical, smooth jazz, and funk with a spanish flare. Some tracks sound suitable for movie background music, for example, Feminova, invokes, possibly an image of an action packed bank robbery, or a James Bond movie in "Letter to a Memory". "Dementia" takes you on a journey from the dark to the light. All in all this album is very addicting, there is something musically interesting and fresh around every curve. You may find yourself listening to this over and over. Steve is truely a master musician. Enjoy

Excellent!

On the whole, this is an excellent album. If you're a fan of Steven Stevens, if you enjoyed "Memory Crash", this is just one more to add to your collection.

If I had to pick a favorite from this album, it would be "Twilight In Your Hands". I think this is one of the most beautiful, inspiring pieces of music I have ever listened to. It is in my personal top ten, and I listen to it and find something new every time I hear it. It is one of those tracks that is spine-chilling.

The Best

The best album from one of the best guitarists ever!

One of the flashiest guitarists (both visually and instrumentally) to emerge from the '80s rock scene was Steve Stevens. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 5, 1959, Stevens first picked up the guitar when he was only seven years old, and later became an avid prog rock fan, especially the likes of Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Yes. Honing his craft while playing in Manhattan, Stevens recorded an unreleased album with his band, Fine Maribus, and also played as a session guitarist on Peter...
