iTunes Review

Hüsker Dü were a furious power trio, both in sound and in output. Flip Your Wig was released only months after the masterful New Day Rising and a little more than a year after the career-defining double LP Zen Arcade, and it shows no signs of wear. In fact, Flip Your Wig is an often-cited fan favorite, featuring several of the band's most loved songs: the title track, "Makes No Sense at All," "Green Eyes," and "Flexible Flyer." Bob Mould and Grant Hart were growing as songwriters, and the competition between them ensured some of the catchiest tunes of the band's career. Mould had usually dominated the albums, but by Wig Hart was bringing in a decent haul, as opposed to a few spectacular highlights. His "Green Eyes" remains one of the band's most haunting tunes, while "Every Everything" and "Keep Hanging On" further boosted his reputation as the "hummable Hüsker." The production's cleaner, with the vocals given better emphasis, but nothing cleans up Mould's dirty wall of guitar. Flip Your Wig is yet another highlight for the band.

Thank God...

I've been waiting forever for Husker Du to come to Itunes. This is a seminal 80's rock band -- there's no Nirvana without Husker Du. Makes No Sense At All is one of my all time favorite songs. Get ready to have your brains blasted out of your ears...

Hell yeah.....

Not their best, despite what you've heard

Widely considered to be their finest outing, but it isn't. Divide and Conquer is perfect, and a couple other gems on here too. Not the complete album that New Day Rising or Metal Circus is.

Years Active: '70s, '80s

Hüsker Dü and R.E.M. were the two American post-punk bands of the '80s that changed the direction of rock & roll. R.E.M. became a superstar band; Hüsker Dü never was more than a cult favorite. Nevertheless, their albums between 1981 and 1987 have proven remarkably influential; they provided the sonic blueprint for the roaring punk-pop hybrid that crossed over into the mainstream in the early '90s. Not only did they shape the sound of the music, they shaped the way independent bands made the transition...
