iTunes Review

A follow-up to Aer's 2011 debut album, The Reach, the 2012 release The Bright Side finds the Wayland, Mass., group honing its rhymes, phrasing, beats, and toasting. Aer specializes in crafting uplifting, reggae-tinged hip-hop: the kind that fuels the fire of unforgettable college parties in the spirit of Sublime (to the dismay of hard-ballin’ players). The opening cut, “Go,” bobs and bounces on buoyant beats as David von Mering and Carter Schultz exchange verses with laser precision. “Floats My Boat” follows with a mellower rhythm, as the dynamic duo muses on rooftop partying, shamelessly rhyming about the preferred vices with which to warm up the weekend. There’s a brilliant moment in “Few Times” where the fine line between reggae toasting and hyper-phrased hip-hop rhyming become as blurred as their clouded vision. The outstanding single “Like the Way” sounds like one of those escapist vessels created to pull in an artist from the doldrums of suburban boredom—and it works. Von Mering and Schultz paint a colorful narrative that fantasizes about living a Southern California lifestyle while stuck in a cul-de-sac reality.

Repping the Fam

Best thing Aer has brought out! Congratz on the upcoming tour with Hoodie Allen, no doubt it's gonna be tight

Fresh Aer

I love these guys, they are amazing. Such a unique, chill sound that is soooo hard to find today. It amazes me that they aren't more famous. FAM!

Steppin up, they did it again

Each album, mixtape , or EP that Aer has done has just gotten better and better each time. They have no once failed at making amazing music. The Bright Side is definitely the best album they've had so far. What's great about Aer is their music doesn't necessarily fit into a genre because it has so many different sounds, so pretty much everyone that listens to all different types of music, loves them! This album is a step up from their last great EP "What you need" and i know their music will just keep getting increasingly better. Carter and David work so hard at doing what they love, making dope music for all the fans that they really do appreciate and love. Buying this album is probably one of the best decisions you'll make, it has a different mix of different beats and sounds, and it's just great, happy feel-good music about life. Buying The Bright Side is not something you'd regret doing :)
