Lyrical Goldmine

I've loved Sara's music for years, and her lyrics have always struck me as being honest, poetic and intriguing. This album is no different, and I would say, her best, most lyrically rich work yet, mixed with inventive, adventurous arrangements and exciting musicality, while staying true to her authentic and humble voice. It's a triumph for sure.

Consistent

Excellent as always. If you have been a fan of Sara's past work, this will not disappoint. If you have never listened before, the music is approachable and the lyrics are just like you were sitting on the front porch talking about what really matters. Good stuff.

What the journey sounds like

I have every CD of Sara's, and her spiritual journey seems to mirror mine, from the first walking on fire in love for Jesus to the seasoned, "Ok, here's the pain of the journey, Lord give me grace and strength." Like a seasoned friend, she shows the path in truth and clarity of doubt and sorrow, and how we do go on, go on in Love on these uneasy roads and "stretches of sorrow". This is the first CD where every song is a song I want to hear again and again. Favorite line: "Love is a diamond, hid in a mountain, covered in danger and dirt. I'm on the outside, digging and digging, I've seen it, I know what it's worth."
Thank you sister in Christ for sharing your honesty about your anxiety and depression, and making your way on the path. It is nice not to feel alone in certain struggles. God Bless your journey

Sara Groves, a former high-school teacher in her native Rosemont, Minnesota, burst onto the gospel scene at the dawn of the new millennium with her fresh vocals and spiritual songwriting. She's been compared to the likes of Shawn Colvin and Rich Mullins; however, Groves defines her own musical demeanor. She cannot be limited to one exact label, for her contemporary Christian hooks also meld into delicate pop. Signed to Epic, Groves issued her debut, Conversations, in early 2001, followed by a string...
