iTunes Review

On Flying Colours’ infectious mix of old-school and new-world hip-hop, you can hear Shad negotiating the existential ennui that people all over the world endure. But he manages to transcend malaise by expressing his hope for the future. Standout tracks like “Stylin’,” “Fam Jam (Fe Sum Immigrins),” and the Lights-illuminated “Remember to Remember” come packaged in deep but sunny beats, with Shad executing a deft lyrical balancing act between earnestness, humor, and cautious optimism.
