The best album ever

Poison the Well is unlike any other band out there. In their third album, You Come Before You, their talent takes music to another level. While they might sound much like a lot of other bands, no one can quite do what these guys can do. The screaming is deeper, thicker, and actually seems to hold a note. Yet, the sceams meld into melodic singing through out most of the album. The guitar work is more artistic than the average post-hardcore band, while just as heavy. Some of the most agressive songs on this album are: "Loved Ones," "Zombies Are Good for Your Health," and arguably the most hard-hitting "Crystal Lake."

I know most of the reviews on here are positive, but that one guy who used the phrase "nu-metal" when he mentioned poison the well is out of line. Ok, this album isn't the Opp. of December Part 2 but its not an album for PTW fans who have little patience or don't allow albums to grow on them. I must confess - at first listen, I was about to disregard this whole album until I began to appreciate the direction PTW was going in. I think they did an excellent job of using their own sound and refining it without dating the album with cliche chug-chug breakdowns and other formulaic elements of the genre.

there are albums and then there are classics.

This album will timelessly go down as one of the most underated best written albums of all time.. Words cannot describe how great this album is from beginning to end

The band favored a style of metalcore that evoked the guitar histrionics of Slayer and the brutal stomp of Hatebreed, while also balancing the proceedings with doses of warmth and melody. The result attracted attention from major labels, resulting in a brief stint...
