What a Kick in the Pants.

This is one of those albums I truly got excited about its release. It has to be good. The song selections are seemingly well thought out. For the most part, the artists who have recorded her songs are top notch. I have been waiting and waiting since I read an article about it in the paper last month gushing about this tribute and garnishing it with its highest rating. Partial download. Ugh. I just cannot believe that iTunes, with all of its leverage could not procure the entire album. This is not an obscure work. The artists on the album are well known. Well thanks to Nonesuch records, or whomever else is responsible for this tribute album released here partially. Why list it at all? What is missing is oh, just the indelible tracks "Blue(!)" that made Joni who she is. Plus, the voices chosen to redo the songs seem to be perfect choices.. BLUE - Sarah McLachlan LADIES OF THE CANYON - Annie Lennox RIVER - James Taylor I don't know - perhaps I am wrong. Maybe it isn't that great and iTunes saved me the bucks. 3 stars to keep it even, since I have not heard it.

Don't buy this partial album!

I eagerly awaited the release of this album and was sorely disppointed to find the i'Tunes offering lacking James Taylor's rendition of "River." As one of Joni Mitchell's contemporaries, JT was appropriately selected to participate in the tribute album. Without his contribution and others, the album is just incomplete and not worth purchasing.

Partial? What's the deal?

This sounds like a great cd but to leave out Sarah McLaughlin, Annie Lennox and James Tayler doing three of her best songs!?!?! Guess I'll have to go shop on Amazon. Get it together Itunes.
