Customer Reviews

2 very progressive musical artists expressing their love for videogames and their art.

I've been a huge fan of Random (Raheem Jarbo, friend him on facebook he's down to earth and cool as hell!)ever since I stumbled upon an article on him in the back of Nintendo Power that I peeped at the grocery store. He provides a very plesant voice with an unbelievably smooth flow along with clean, intelligent and conscience lyrics. This is in my opinion his best Nerdcore work yet, tied as a personal overall favorite with his debut, non-videogame album,"the Call".

I've never had the chance to hear the work of the producer K-Murdock before this joint(though I've heard great things) and I was very impressed when I heard his production on this record. The beats are simulataneously nostalgic and progressive. He chose to sample alot of great games like "Chrono Trigger", "Earthbound" and "Little Nemo the Dream Master" just to name a few. You have to hear what he does with them to believe how magical it sounds.

My only very small complaint is that the song "Epoch" came off as slightly gimmicky to me. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome track, providing an awesome riff off of Chrono Trigger and Random's amazing ability to chain a metric-ton of videogame names together in one song. It's a personal favorite off the album for a lot of people. It just hit me slightly like "hey nerds isn't this awesome I can say a million game names in a song". And that's right, it is awesome talent. See, I can't even complain about this record if I try.

If you're a fan of Random or K-Murdock, you've probably already bought this, but if you haven't this is a must have. If you're not and you've stumbled upon this by your love for all things Famicom I urge you to purchase it. You can then proceed in buying all of Random and K-Murdock's robust back catalogue after you fall in love with them. Random's Mega Ran records are great videogame rap albums as well!

Props to Emilie Bogrand for some beautiful vocals on "Forever" and to all others who contributed to this dope album.

Nostalgia + musicianship =

A winner. Every track is a new set of memories.. Faves are Epoch, The Girl With the Make Up and Galaxies

Famicom

Bought a copy of this back in June, pretty solid album which brings back memories with the beat selection. Not the biggest fan of beats that are made from video game beats, but these are dope. If you dont have this album yet, you need to get it now.
