Album Review

This is the first Carlos Santana solo album. It features members of the Santana band as backup, however, so the difference between a group effort and a solo work seems to be primarily in the musical approach, which is more esoteric, and more varied than on a regular band album. The record is mostly instrumental and given over largely to contemplative ballads, although there is also, for example, in the song "Silver Dreams Golden Smiles," a traditional pop ballad sung by Saunders King.

Very Glad I bought this

I had never heard this album before. My main knowledge of Santana was confined to his work with Santana, the band, and selected collaborations, such as Love, Devotion, and Surrender, with John McLaughlin.

This album sails. I recommend it to anyone who likes Borboletta or Welcome more than Love, Devotion, and Surrender. Beautfully melodic and viscerally rhthmic. And screamin' guitar, of course.

The real Guitar Hero!

The best Santana's instrumental album!!! All the virtuose guitar thecnics are there!! He should invest more in his jazzy side!!!
