The Breaker Little Big Town
EDITORS’ NOTES
Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild has described “Lost in California”—perhaps the standout track on the band’s eighth album—as “hillbilly Sade.” It’s self-deprecation, sure, but there’s plenty to it. The Breaker is the four-piece’s most urbane, widescreen record, but it refuses to relinquish their down-home charm. “Happy People,” “We Went to the Beach,” and “Drivin’ Around” showcase those trademark harmonies and feel like bespoke additions to a summer roadtrip soundtrack, while “When Someone Stops Loving You” and the Taylor Swift-penned “Better Man” pack real, relatable emotional clout.
