Editors’ Notes

Anthem Lights is noticeably more muscular and hard-driving than its boy-band looks might indicate. The group’s self-titled debut album leans heavily towards upbeat praise tunes, built around sleek New Romantic-influenced guitar lines and polished harmonies. Tunes like “Can’t Shut Up,” “I Wanna Know You Like That” and “Outta My Mind” are buoyantly worshipful numbers that show off Alan Powell’s vibrant singing style to full advantage. “Lighthouse” is the sort of hook-laden pop track that imbeds itself in the mind even as it offers hope for salvation. While Anthem Lights’ tunes are mostly bright and bubbly, their lyrics display some theological rigor — “Freedom Into Slavery,” for instance, is an uncompromising statement of spiritual need. A particular high point is “Where the Light Is,” a sparsely arranged rock ballad filled with the simple but exalted imagery of a timeless hymn. Anthem Lights may be style-conscious and very radio friendly, but they offer heartfelt testimony rooted in firmly held faith.

Respect!

Who could possibly give these guys only 1 star?! Let me start by saying I'm a 19 year old Christian guy. I love all kinds of music (rock, rap, and worship), but I'm a Die Hard Christian rock fan. My favorite bands are Skillet and Red. This music isn't Christian Rock by any means but it is some of the BOLDEST christian music I've heard. As the oldest brother of 5 I love what these guys are doing. Kids need solid Christian music in todays society more than ever and this band not only provides great music production wise, but has some amazing Christ centered lyrics and messages. I have a ton of respect for these guys not only for their bold lyrics but also because these guys have raw talent and passion. Like I said this isn't really my type of music but I will definitely be listening to some of these songs for awhile. I got a chance to see them live at the Rock and worship roadshow which I went to for TFK and Lecrae but Anthem Lights was phenomenal and you could tell how much they loved what they were doing out there and how real they really were. I know these guys have big things ahead of them and I pray God uses them in ways they never imagined.

Mind blowing!

Ever since I met them a year ago they have been such an inspiration to show me how awesome god is. They made
me realize that I was a Christian atheist. But now I am a proud Christian woman. Who is not ashamed of god. These four young men represent the Christian life style in a positive way. Sharing the love of the lord in every aspect that they can. Their music is one if a kind and a music I can't get over. Since knowing i have brought 4 people to Christ by playing their music. Anthem lights is a band that might be able to turn Christianity into something BIG... ---Amanda O
