YES! I still have this on cassette tape. CLASSIC ACE! He KICKS! This is a very melodic album with great guitar of course

Better than KISS at this point in time

Think about it, KISS was a laughable hair band and Ace and Peter were doing there things, and ace had the most success. ACE RULES, by this album if you like 70's KISS its easy to like. ROCK ON ACE!!

One of the greatest rock albums EVER...and its totally forgotten.

Yeah I just said that, going into this I already had an array of other Ace Frehley solo stuff, but nothing solid. Lemme tell you I am also a HUGE HUGE HUGE KISS fan. So i thought I heard it all so i thought I'd check this one out. I bought Rock Soldiers and I was FLOORED! I quickly purchased the rest of the album and found a used copy on ebay too. I HAD to own this. Songs like Calling To You, Into The Night, We Got Your Rock, Stranger In A Strange Land, Rock Soldiers and Breakout should have been HUGE hits, but instead I find that people never really heard of this. THIS is what KISS should have been doing in the 80s, forget Animalize and Crazy Nights and stuff like that, thats power pop garbage. THIS is what the spirt of 70s KISS sounds like on steriods. I can't convey how impressed I was with this album! Musically its excellent. Ace's guitar leads are TOP NOTCH here. Like WOW! The solo in Rock Soldiers blows my mind alone and the one in Stranger in A Strange Land KILLS anything any other KISS guitarist could do. Anton Fig is an excellent drummer and his presence brings this album to a new demension on its own. Tod Howarth is also a very valued member here, his vocal range and song writing are great and I really don't mind Ace turning over the mic to Tod for Breakout, Something Moved and Calling To You. It makes this release more than just a solo record and more of a real band effort. With that said, Ace is still the real star here. His guitar work is amazing, his songwriting has never been smoother and his vocals (its no secret the man can't really sing, but he still sounds great!) are at their best here, really fitting for the music. this stands alone, away from KISS, as a supeior and lost gem of 80s rock. Any fan of Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Poison, Whitesnake or even bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica and Judas Priest NEED to check this out. You will be shocked by its musical diversity and hard rock attitude. Its fun 80s rock that really hold up very well musically. Even if you aren't a KISS fan, you still need to check this out. I can't recommend it more. Ace, you truely were the heart of KISS, this proves it! This has become one of my favorite albums of all time! I give it the highest possibly rating!

Along with Eddie Van Halen, Kiss' Ace Frehley inspired numerous up-and-coming rockers to pick up the guitar in the 1970s -- and come the '90s, he was listed by just about every contemporary rock guitarist (Soundgarden's Kim Thayil, Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, Pantera's Dimebag Darrell, etc.) as an important influence. Born Paul Frehley on April 27, 1951, in the Bronx, New York, Frehley began playing guitar when he received an electric six-string for his 14th birthday in 1965. Already a big fan of...
