Virginia O'Brien for the Die-Hard Fan

While a fantastic and totally unexpected find on iTunes, this album has a minor flaw for anyone less than the die-hard fan or completionist collector. All but 6 out of the 23 songs were recorded live at the Masquers Club in Hollywood at a very late point in Ms. O'Brien's singing career. The effect is rather disappointing and distracting for one who was hoping for recordings strictly from the 40s. But for someone like that, there is Track 1 and Tracks 19-23, although 23 really is a surprise guest star, so watch out. =) Otherwise, it's just great to find this even available and to be able to have even those few 40s recordings.

Rare Find!

I was searching for a CD by Virginia O'Brien for quite sometime - for a long time only one song was available - so I was so excited to purchase this. While I was hoping for the songs from the movies - most of this a seems to be recorded live later in Miss O'Brien's career. It is such a treat from such an unrecognized true star - a comedic genius!
