Originally released in 2013, Helbig's Pocket Symphonies are stunning orchestral miniatures—filled with poignancy, accessibility, and deep feeling. This electronic reinterpretation of the pieces grew out of the necessity of Helbig’s solo performances. The result is captivating: the melodies carry the same bittersweet emotion and instant appeal, but the textures—glimmering synthesizers, eerie vibraphone samples, and a cut-paste mosaic of soothing and shattering sounds—endow the work with futuristic ambience.
