EDITORS’ NOTES

Prior to the release of 2018’s 223 album, Blac Youngsta was known primarily for his Instagram exploits, be they causing scenes in big-box department stores or throwing around bricks of cash. If 223 proved anything, it’s that the Memphis standout could translate that same outsized personality (as well as that penchant for flossing) into bona fide hits. Fu*k Everybody 2—a sequel to 2016’s Fuck Everybody—finds the rapper exploring concepts such as revolutionizing drug distribution (“Drive Thru”), listing the many things a man of his stature cannot abide (“Uh Uh”), and affirming a sort of streetwise woke-ness, remarking on “901” that “Martin Luther King got killed in the city/That’s why I don’t trust sh*t in the city.”

About Blac Youngsta

Back in South Memphis, he was known as a hometown rapper and organizer of the popular McMillan Street block party, but in 2014, rapper Blac Youngsta (Sam Benson) became a nationwide name thanks to his hit song "Heavy." Youngsta began hosting the parties in 2011 in order to honor a neighborhood youth, King Craddy, who was violently murdered the year before. In 2012, he released the first of his Fast Brick mixtapes, with Fast Brick 2 also landing that year. Fast Brick 3 arrived in 2014, followed late in the year by the single "Heavy." Yo Gotti signed Youngsta to Collective Music Group in 2015, and mixtapes such as Young & Reckless and F*ck Everybody followed. Youngsta signed to Epic in 2017, releasing the singles "Hip Hopper" (with Lil Yachty) and "Booty," both of which racked up millions of streams. Blac Youngsta's debut album, 223, arrived in February of 2018 and landed in the Top 50 upon its release. The album's guests included Travis Scott, Chris Brown, and French Montana. ~ David Jeffries
