One of the best duos EVER create one of the best albums

Damn. I had my usual expectations for a PUTS album since they are a favorite of mine but this is amazing. I'll have to listen some more times obviously but this might be better than OST which I consider their best album. All 20 tracks are dope. Some of the best production from Thes & K ever. Their lyrics & rhymes are great as well (as usual from Thes One & Double K). Just another amazing album in their great catalog. Buy this album! PUTS fan 4 life. Keep up the great work Thes & K.

PUTS updating their sound to 1970!

Only a year or so after their last album, I was curious to see what the PUTS had been up to. I was pretty suspicious of the "FUN DMC" title. It had the goofy sound of "old school sugarhill party rap styles" written all over it. My hunch was right. If you're into the disco sound, "Anotha BBQ", "Swan Fever" and the party style direction these guys are headed, you'll love this album. Personally, I feel that The Furious Five and Grandmaster Flash did this genre just fine. Don’t get me wrong, there are some nice sample moments (Thes is some sort of super human record digger, btw.) and their production quality is on point, but I just wasn’t feeling it overall. Good music, just not for me. I think I'll stick with the pre-stepfather albums.

Musical DOPE!

One of the few truly talented underground LA groups, PUTS brings us the best album since 'O.S.T.' in my opinion. Just like 'O.S.T.', practically every track has amazing beats, tons of sampling, and are lyrically amazing. My Favorites? "Swan fever," "The Fun," "The Grind," "The Wiz," "California," I swear I could go on and name five more tracks that are truly amazing. At 20 tracks deep, this is a DEAL. I own 'O.S.T.', 'Or Stay Tuned...', 'The Next Step', and 'Step-Father', and though 'O.S.T.' was, in my opinion, their classic, 'Fun DMC' is emerging as my new favorite PUTS album.

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '90s, '00s

The underground hip-hop outfit People Under the Stairs was formed by Mike Turner (Double K) and Chris Portugal (Thes One), who met on the fringe of L.A.'s late-'90s hip-hop underground. The duo, devoted to jazzy samples, danceable beats, intricate rhyming skills, and laid-back humor, debuted in 1998 with the acclaimed The Next Step and followed it up in 2000 with Question in the Form of an Answer. Gathering heavy praise and touring with De La Soul, the group took their road experiences and brought...
