Customer Reviews

Enduring

This is stunning. I have owned this for some time. That no one has bothered to leave a review is disappointing but also unsurprising. The orchestra is lush and imaginative. The piano is resonant and precise, and takes us through such breathtaking melodies that the outcome leaves one aching. Blanchard's trumpet floats above and throughout every composition which supplies the feeling of tragedy and inevitability and beauty that can never be possessed. Ashè is my personal favorite, but the entire work is enduring and probably Blanchard's masterwork.

Penetrating, like the intense heat and humidity of NOLA in July.

This collection by Terence Blanchard stands head and shoulders with any of his previous albums. One comes away feeling a sense of the richness and sometimes anguish of life in the stormy south.
