Album Review

Con Funk Shun's brand of funk was polished with spirited horns, titillating guitar rhythms, and ear-pleasing vocals. These 17 tracks encompass the group's tenure at Mercury beginning with their first charted single, "Sho' Feels Good to Me," and also including six Top Ten singles, three Top 20 singles, and a horde of Top 30 hits. Of the many gems found on this compilation album, two that never charted are "Love's Train" and "All Up to You," both quiet storm classics. Also included in this package are liner notes by Harry Weinger, chronicling the self-contained septet's reign of funk and impact on the music industry. All numbers feature the lead vocals of Felton Pilate and Michael Cooper.

when music was cool

love this music...TOO TIGHT is the best Con Funk Shun song out there. No swears, no rap, just good funk !

One of the best of their time

One of the best bands ever. I heard them my freshman yr in college (1980)... FOR FREE! Well almost free, I bought their album the NEXT day. Oh, an album is a great big black Vinyl CD, that would warp if you left it in your car. Of course there was no reason for it to be in your car, because your car played cassette tapes. Unless you were still on 8Track. If you like Gap Band, Earth Wind and Fire, Brothers Johnson, or Cameo... you WILL enjoy this album.

Love It!

This is such a beautiful album. I saw ConFunkShun years ago at a New Years party in Sacramento, and let me tell you, they were HOT! They still had at least the two main singers. The one with the deep voice, and the one with the soft high pitched voice, and they needed at least those two to pull off a great concert. I was screaming up front at the soft ballards because they sang so good. I want to see them again.
