Album Review

Polygram Special Markets' The Best of the Ohio Players may not be a definitive collection by any means — "Fire," "Love Rollercoaster, " "Fopp, " "Sweet Sticky Thing" are all missing — but get beyond that flaw and the compilation seems perfectly adequate as a sampler, since it does boast such items as "Skin Tight, " "Who'd She Coo?, " "Feel the Beat (Everybody Disco)" and "O-H-I-O." It's still something only budget-minded casual fans will be interested in — collectors will have all the material and most casual fans will want all the hits if they're going to buy a hits collection — but it's not a bad listen at all. The cassette version of The Best of Ohio Players contains three fewer cuts than its CD counterpart; it's missing "Funk-O-Nots, " "Good Luck Charms" and "Sleepwalkin'."

Customer Reviews

Loved the sound of the day...today!

One of the heaviest funk groups to come out back in the day....I enjoyed growing up with the sounds of the Ohio Players and the music lives on and on.... my only gripe about all the latest and greatest is they left off one of my favorite songs from the list.... "My Life".... which was available, but the download was corrupt.... please, please add the song back, so I can complete my collection of Old Skool cool....
