iTunes Review

Two Atlanta rappers who've both been around for a while as solo artists, Stat Quo and Bobby Creekwater recently joined forces as FUPM (F*ck You Pay Me) and seriously impress with their debut collabo album. Years ago, both were signed to Eminem's Shady Records and were featured on Em's 2006 compilation The Re-Up; then they independently dropped several albums (most recently The Day It All Made Sense and Statlanta). Though they still occasionally rock a few modern rap production clichés, for the most part they present listeners with a refreshingly unique production style, overflowing with trippy sound effects, minimalist drum programming, and intergalactic keyboard meanderings. Lyrically, both sound better than ever, dropping wordy verses about life, love, intoxication, and hip-hop over the futuristic beatscapes. It's much weirder (in a good way) than you might expect; this is especially recommended for fans of early OutKast. Check out "New School, Old School," "Blast Off," and "Dope Out My Window."

Big Boi & André 3000 Should Be Proud

Pros: Different and superior to anything currently coming out of ATL. Musically better than 90% of what major labels back. *Lyrics and beats mesh perfectly*. Worth every penny.

Cons: Not enough tracks.

Awesome album, we’ve been waiting a long time for Bobby Creekwater to grace us yet again with the eloquence of his ATL drenched bars and he has not let us down in this offering! As usual, superior, quality talent from both gentlemen. Status Quo and Bobby Creekwater Kudos gentlemen, you make ATL proud!!!

Real Rap... Will not disappoint.

From the onset, Stat Quo wanted to raise the standards (i.e., the status quo) for MCs in the rap game, particularly in Southern hip-hop. Being handpicked by rap superstar Eminem and the legendary Dr. Dre as a potential up-and-comer was a definite vindication of his lofty goals. The Atlanta-born rapper, whose real name is Stanley Benton, has repeatedly acknowledged that his strong work ethic came from his mother, who raised him in Atlanta's housing projects. After graduating high school, he attended...
