Customer Reviews

Far from classic.

I bought my first LL COOL J album in 1987. I bought BAD from the local tape store. Yeah, TAPE store. Anyhow, after the first play through I had to run back and grab Radio and Panther. LL was a wizard with the mic and only a few could touch him back then (Rakim!). Those were great albums, and it pains me to see people calling this album a classic. After Mr. Smith, LL Cool J sold out and became everything he used to dis. He made stupid Radio friendly music with R&B girls. He mad movies and had a TV show. Now, I don't hate anyone for making money where one can, but this album is far from classic, matter of fact, it isn't even good.

thiz iz the first time me hearing LL go thiz deep into hiz story-telling listen to trackz like "Back where i belong" the ground shakin the based on a true story "Homicide" and the adernal rush of "Cant think" and a story about a woman in an abuse relationship "You and Me" get thiz itunez on your list

LL Cool J - 'G.O.A.T.' Review

Once again, Cool J as provin' himself the best rapper ever! Okay, so, 'Imagine That' is good. Great sound. Honestly, my favorites were 1-7 (Not including, 'Intro' or 'Skit', but, no one likes those). 'Homicide' is a good song as is 'The G.O.A.T.' but, the rest... Oh, heck, they're all good. But, this is one of the better albums.

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Hip-hop is notorious for short-lived careers, but LL Cool J is the inevitable exception that proves the rule. Releasing his first hit, "I Can't Live Without My Radio," in 1985 when he was just 17 years old, LL initially was a hard-hitting, streetwise b-boy with spare beats and ballistic rhymes. He quickly developed an alternate style, a romantic -- and occasionally sappy -- lover's rap epitomized by his mainstream breakthrough single, "I Need Love." LL's first two albums, Radio and Bigger and Deffer,...
