iTunes Review

David Nail’s third album delves into bittersweet memories of the past as well as romantic dreams of the present. The Missouri-born singer draws on his own married life for inspiration as he balances traditional and contemporary country sounds with the help of producers Chuck Ainlay and Frank Liddell. Rather than indulge in faux-rebel posturing or party-hearty clichés, the album’s songs offer honest glimpses of relationships, small-town life, and the struggle to learn from one’s mistakes. Whether he’s falling under the spell of a fascinating woman (“Whatever She’s Got”), looking back on old flames with fondness (“Broke My Heart”), or celebrating his better half (the title track), Nail brings natural warmth and sincerity to his performances. The twang-filled “When They’re Gone (Lyle County)” recalls the joys of young love with the help of Little Big Town, while the piano ballad “The Secret” reflects on the price paid for bad choices. Nail blends voices with Lee Ann Womack on a heartfelt cover of “Galveston” (a Jimmy Webb tune that Glen Campbell took to the top of the charts in 1969), adding a note of heroism to this radio-friendly yet highly personal release.

I'm a fire

I love this album. I truly believe David Nail is the most overlooked singer in country music. His voice is amazing!!!

The New Era

David Nail has a much different and newer sound coming into this new album. Instead of the slower ballads, a handful of songs sound more upbeat in tempo and melody. The new sound is something that is going to be the breakthrough that David Nail has needed. He has always been underrated with his past two albums, but I think because of the hype of "Whatever She's Got", people are going to really find they enjoy what he has to offer. I highly recommend "Countin' Cars!"

Most Anticipated of 2014

David Nail's first two albums were some of the best hidden gems in country music, but expect a much more upbeat offering from Nail on his third studio album. Songs such as "Whatever She's Got," "Burnin' Bed," "Countin' Cars," "Easy Love," and "I'm a Fire" all attest to this, but that's not to take away from some of his slower songs which are equally as good. With the emotion he puts into every song and some of the best vocals in country music, he's easily one of the most underrated country artists out there today. This was by far one of the most anticipated albums of early 2014 and it definitely lives up to, if not exceeds, expectations.

A country artist with an agile voice, a gift for songwriting, and a passionate performing style, David Nail was born in Kennett, Missouri on May 18, 1979. Music was a major part of the Nail household -- his father was a high school band director proficient on a number of instruments, and his mother sang in the church choir. His parents had an extensive and eclectic record collection, but country music wasn't on Nail's radar until he was 14 and attended a school talent show. One of the entrants sang...
