Sweet!

You can hear subtle Southern Rock influences in this album from Marathon. I bought the CD in 2001 after discovering Chuck Carrier, who fronts the band on this album. Delicately Mine and Leave You Here are two of my very most favorite songs. Come Home and Year of You are also quite good. The production values aren't as high on some tracks as others (14 Days is a great song, but it sounds like he really might have left it on his girlfriend's voice mail, like the song suggests). All in all, it's a very good album.

love this band

This is a very solid release from Marathon. The harmonies, vocals and guitar is very fluid. The lyrics are solid. Overall, one of their best. That said, they are SO much better live. The lead singer has a very peircing presence on stage. He has these very intence blue eyes. Maybe that's it. I first saw them open for a VERY popular band and all the talk was about Marathon. The headliner was totaly obscured (and the headliner put on an incredible show). If you are going to buy a Marathon album, this is the one. I especially like Juliet and Leave You Here.

This is one of the best albums I've ever listened to.

After seeing Chuck Carrier in concert in Atlanta in 2002, I picked up this album, Better Things Than I, and Songs for 27 (by Chuck Carrier). Chuck's soulful sound and piercing lyrics assure that these albums always stay in the rotation. Year of You, Come Home, Gambler's Greed, and 14 Days will jump out at you on first listen, followed by Delicately Mine, Talk & Alcohol, Better Things Than I, and Any Other Day the second time through. The rest of the album will follow shortly and it will never leave your playlist. After listening to this, pick up Songs for 27, it is a more mature, introspective album that you're sure to love as well.
