Album Review

Having proved herself with 2001's rough and tough Scorpion, Eve changed direction slightly for Eve-Olution. The focus here is less hip-hop and more contemporary R&B, with fewer rappers invited as guests — only appear on only two tracks, "Hey Y'All" features Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg and the Scorpion sequel "Double R What" features Jadakiss and Styles. After the intro, Eve focuses squarely on neo-soul. The productions keep the groove going coutresy of the beatheads behind the boards Irv Gotti, Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, and Poke & Tone. ("Irresistible Chick" features a smooth Irv Gotti production that's moving almost as fast as Eve's fluid raps. There are a few tough-love tracks along the lines of Scorpion's "You Had Me, You Lost Me" and "You Ain't Gettin' None," and a nod to her Ruff Ryders past with "Ryde Away."

I don't know what everybody else is talkin' about, but thist album is the BOMB-DOT-COM!!! I've been a fan of eve ever since she came out back in '99 and this album is NICE. She hasn't lost her touch and she won't lose it ever!!!! SO LETS WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!

This ain't so bad

This song's alright. It's not so perverted as other songs.

Nice album fron Eve

I'll tell you about each track Intro:It's just an intro informing u about Eve-olution What:The person who sings is called Truth Hurts. This song is pretty good for a starter track and Eve does a great job. It's mostly to the haters telling them if you don't like her music then change your radio station.4/5 Gangasta Lovin'-First single from the album I think and it features Alicia Keys.Alicia Keys has wonderful vocals in this song and as usual Eve is awesome too.5/5 Irresistable Chick:One of my favorite songs off the album Eve spits very fast on this song and it's very seductive. She sings and raps in this song.5/5 Party In The Rain-This song features Mashonda.Mashonda does the chorus while Eve spits the verses. When it gets to the third verse Eve spits pure fire. This song has a sort of reggae theme to it.5/5 Arguement(Skit)-A very intresting skit in which Eve is arguing with her man and he ends up walking out the door since Eve said he can.It kinda got me thinking Let This Go-Eve sings a ton in this song and she raps the verses. This song relates back to the skit. It's for people who have a mate that always argues about every single thing.4/5 Hey Y'all-Loved it.It features snoop dogg and Nate Dogg. Not really a meaning to it.4/5 Figure You Out-It features someone but I don't know who it is.It's kinda seductive as well but it's not the best track.3/5 Stop Hatin(Skit)-This is funny.A man and some woman from the hood is talkin about Eve and the woman is saying things like Eve ain't all that and other stuff while the man is defending Eve.The two then begin to pick on each other. Satisfaction:Second single from the album.Eve sings the chorus and raps. It's excellent.5/5 Neckbones:I don't get this song because it kinda doesn't have a meaning but who cares it's good! 4/5 Double R What-Pure fire man this joint is hot.Eve, Jadakiss and Style Of The Lox do a great job rappin.5/5 Ryde Away-A joint that you really need to listen to and get in your head.It may not be the best track but it has meaning.4/5 As I grow-This song made me think. It sounds like Eve really goes through a lot.4/5 Eve-Olution-Last track off the album and what an excellent way to end an album with a hot joint like this one.The beat is hot and Eve spits fire as always. The chorus is awesome.5/5 Overall this album isn't as tough as Scorpion and Ruff Ryders First Lady but this album is just as good.It shows a nicer side somewhat of Eve and if you're an Eve fan this is the album for you Standout Tracks: Gangasta Lovin' Satisfaction Party In the rain Irresistable Chick Eve-olution

Born: November 10, 1978 in Philadelphia, PA

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Eve was one of a new breed of tough, talented, commercially viable female MCs to hit the rap scene during the late '90s. Though she could be sexy when she chose, she wasn't as over the top as Lil' Kim or Foxy Brown, and as part of the Ruff Ryders posse, her production was harder than Da Brat's early work with Jermaine Dupri. In the end, Eve came off as her own person; a strong, no-nonsense street MC who could hold her own with most anyone on the mike, and was finding success on her own terms. She...
