It’s a Grower

When I first listened to Garden, I’ll admit that I was disappointed. I felt like it was very same-y and pretty dull. But I came back to it and gave it another chance and I’m finding it to be quite addicting. For those expecting a typical, ultra-structured, song-oriented worship release will be disappointed. It wasn’t until I realized that Garden is soaking music that I truly felt like I understood the album. Some highlights from the album for me are “Emptiness” and “Home”.
Props to United Pursuit for not falling back to familiar territory and for taking some risks. While I don’t think it’s quite as good as Endless Years or Simple Gospel, Garden is well worth the time spent listening to it. Definitely different, but excellent in its own right.

Really Great

So many worship albums and songs are all about the anthem; the start-really-small-and-end-really-huge song formula which is great in small doses but gets really old. Garden is peaceful, patient, contemplative, soul-affirming music. An album like this shouldn't be a "risk" in today's worship world, but it feels like one, and I'm grateful they took it. Music like this should play at least a partial role in every church's morning worship - Let people take time centering around one simple truth. Lots of slow burning, musically satisfying, easily singable music.

Wonderful!

Sure, it’s not the same as “Simple Gospel” but it clearly has that United Pursuit / Will Reagan Vibe throughout the album. A wonderful addition to the great collection of music they’ve been releasing for years.
