Album Review

This iteration of White Wizzard shares only one member — the bassist — with the one that recorded 2009's seven-song High Speed GTO EP, and based on the auditory evidence, that's a good thing. The New Wave of British Heavy Metal riffs and galloping tempos are even sharper and more headlong than they were before, the new vocalist's upper-register yowls are utterly convincing, and the band as a whole is a tight riffing machine. There's plenty of dual-guitar lead action, including traded solos, too, which is always a plus. The lyrics, of course, are patent nonsense, with songs like "Live Free or Die" and the title track offering positive-thinking mantras Ronnie James Dio would love. They have their own theme song, too; "White Wizzard" kicks off with a doomy intro, quickly becoming a midtempo, primarily instrumental anthem with a prominent bassline in the classic Iron Maiden style. On this album, White Wizzard aren't much more than the sum of their influences, but they do hark back to a time before grunge (even before hair metal) when metal was fun, and that's something.

killer !

I'm not entirely sure how to give you the proper picture here...I imagine this being a teenage Iron Maiden releasing a killer album in 1979 on bong fulls of weed. Ha, maybe that's just me but this rocks hard and needs to be cranked to eleven either way...don't pass this one !

Ladies and Gentlemen, White Wizzard.

This album is amazing. It sounds just out of the 80's Heavy metal scene, which is what the music biz needs right now. In a world by Pop Stars like Justin Beiber and American Idols, a man named jon leon formed a band to fight the screamo, and hardcore metal bands and in my mind im very glad he did. This album really just shosws me there are people trying to finally get rid of this screamo and pop crap. THANK YOU WHITE WIZZARD!!!

White Wizzard keeping real metal alive!

White Wizzard were formed in 2007 by vocalist James Paul Luna, guitarist James LaRue, bassist Jon Leon, and drummer Tyler Meahl, and, amid the surrounding din of retro-fitted thrash and glam rock bands crowding around them, chose to tackle the New Wave of British Heavy Metal on their eponymous seven-song EP the following year. Boasting cover art designed by Iron Maiden artist Derek Riggs, the EP drew the attention of Earache Records, which included the track "High Speed GTO" in their Heavy Metal...
