A collection no music lover should be without!

A collection of classical Indian music no music lover should be without. Listening to this for the first time was a heavy rain just before sunset on a long hot, muggy day. I had heard the usual token sitars and tabla in rock, jazz and dance music, but didn’t know anything about the traditional ragas they were designed to play. I think the purple mohawked dude at my local music shop thought this would be a funny response to my question, "what's new and interesting this week?" Hard to believe I've now owned it close to 10 years and even harder to imagine how it’s changed my perception of rhythm and tone. There are a few tracks that may be a little awkward to the western ear. This is an introduction though, as the book says “to the melodic basis for the classical music of northern India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.” I recommend taking it all in, because you’ll come to appreciate what you learn about both the Ragas and your own concept of music. Perfect for: musicians, music collectors, western classical fans, yoga types, meditative types, free jazz freaks, downtempo cats, chillout romancing types, not-so-tough toughies, the sultry, depressed, overjoyed, kids who travel too much, parents of over sugared kids, over sugared kids and those unsure of the profound musical heritage from which they come. Cheers!

It is missing the printed material that goes with the collection. I wish they would include a PDF or doc file download either with purchase or as an add on. The original CDs came with this highly educational written material.
