Excellent Performance!

Excellent Performance by the Baltimore Symphony!! Support this great Orchestra which budget has been deeply affected by the current economic situation.

A lot of fun

This is probably the best-known piece of American Classical music, and Thibaudet and Alsop give a fun and spirited performance. The jazz band arrangements are leaner than I'm used to, but they give these well-known pieces a jolt of energy and fun. Pure joy from the first to last note.

A previous review said that they felt the sound of the recording was "flat." I wonder what type of speakers they were using? I compared the performance on a pair of JM Labs Grand Utopia EM, a pair of Canton Reference 3.2 DC, and finally on a pair of Marten Coltrane Supremes and all three gave me a very accurate representation of the live performance and gave me the feeling that I was there in the audience again.

In my opinion the BSO is more than just decent, featuring some world-class performers such as timpanist Dennis Kain, violinist Madeline Adkins, and principal tuba David Fedderly to name just a few. The BSO year after year continues to feature an exciting array of guests and events, and this one is no exception! Bravo! This is a must-have for any Gershwin fan.
