iTunes Review

Starting with his much-loved 1998 debut, It's Dark and Hell Is Hot, Yonkers rapper DMX had a crazy run of multiplatinum sales and gigantic smash singles. His first five albums all debuted at No. 1 on the charts, and he starred in several hit movies (Belly, Exit Wounds, etc.). A truly unique emcee, he could switch between hyper-aggressive, bark-infused shout rap to reflective spirituality with ease, and for many years he was undoubtedly one of hip-hop's most popular figures. Unfortunately, the hits stopped coming a while ago, and these days he's better known for his frequent jail bids and depressing reality-show appearances. Undisputed is his first official album since 2006's Year of the Dog...Again, and it finds the Dark Man reconnecting with longtime producers Swizz Beatz and Dame Grease. He sounds rejuvenated and more focused than he has in many years, mixing rowdy party jams ("I Don't Dance") with autobiographical musings about his myriad struggles ("Slippin Again"). Don't sleep on "Frankenstein" or "I Got Your Back."

The dog is back.

It feels rushed

Now I loved DMX when he first popped on the scene. His beats and rhymes were on point, hardcore, and was one of the best. That said after listening to this it's clear his material isn't up to par and most of the beats sound similar and they don't seem to go well when he rhymes. This feels rushed and he should of taken the time to really make it hardcore for all the fans that been waiting for him to come back. If you gave him five stars then you really were starving for anything he put out. He tries here no doubt, but it doesn't work for me. Sorry.

finally someone who actually has lyrics instead of repeating the same 4 or five words over and over. i just hope dmx's return is not too late. and the album is pretty good too. if you are a dmx fan, just buy it already.

Following the deaths of Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G., DMX took over as the undisputed reigning king of hardcore rap. He was that rare commodity: a commercial powerhouse with artistic and street credibility to spare. His rapid ascent to stardom was actually almost a decade in the making, which gave him a chance to develop the theatrical image that made him one of rap's most distinctive personalities during his heyday. Everything about DMX was unremittingly intense, from his muscular, tattooed...
