Editors’ Notes

The mighty Aerosmith hit their stride with their second album, Get Your Wings. Their debut had been a satisfying collection that was primal and raw, with a mammoth hit in “Dream On.” Get Your Wings turns up the volume with several of the band’s fan favorites. The salacious “Lord of the Thighs,” the extra-terrestrial “Spaced” and the one-two punch of “S.O.S. (Too Bad)” and the rockabilly classic “Train Kept A-Rollin’,” done as pure stadium hard-rock, are songs that defined the band’s early appeal. Singer Steven Tyler’s strong personality is in full evidence as he rasps and toys with the words and melodies. “Seasons of Wither” is a remarkable ballad, a trace of tenderness coming from a band best known for their wisecracking tales, as “Same Old Song and Dance” makes plain to hear. “Woman of the World” is the perfect essay on ‘70s-styled rock ‘n’ roll decadence with a woman who calls her own shots, while “Pandora’s Box” is an expression of pure old-school blues lust, complete with an R&B sax and piano to best make the rather obscene point.

My favorite Aerosmith album

This was my first Aerosmith album and continues to be my favorite. Eight great songs "all killer with no filler". Toys and Rocks may have sold more but IMO this is the better album.

Get your wings

This is the greatest Aerosmith album ever produced!!!!
There is not a bad song on it.

Great album!

Their best of the 70's, and their third best album ever made, after Pump and Get A Grip! Did you know, sadly, Joe Perry didn't play any if the solos on Train Kept A Rollin' or Same Old Song And Dance? Steve Hunter played lead guitar on the first half of Train, and Dick Wagner played lead on the second half of Train and Same Old Song. I felt so empty after learning that...

Aerosmith were one of the most popular hard rock bands of the '70s, setting the style and sound of hard rock and heavy metal for the next two decades with their raunchy, bluesy swagger. The Boston-based quintet found the middle ground between the menace of the Rolling Stones and the campy, sleazy flamboyance of the New York...
