BSO goes film noir

This concept album, with all the songs written by Brian Setzer, is a treat. It's being billed as an unwritten soundtrack. Some of the songs inspire little movies in your head as you hear them such as Dead Man Incorporated. Kiss Me Deadly is another example of that type of song. This album has some of the best lyrics Brian Setzer has written, but fear not! There are three instrumentals on the album for those who can't get enough of that Setzer guitar, each with their own sound. Love Partners In Crime has a Broadway sound (and is my favorite on the album). Eddie Nichols of Royal Crown Revue does a spoken part, mobster style, in King Of The Whole Damn World which is a hoot. There's a cute song called Gimme Some Rhythm Daddy and after that upbeat song you get a gorgeous slow standard-type song in Lonely Avenue, with strings and all. For blues fans, there's My Baby Don't Love Me Blues. Passion Of The Night and Dimes In The Jar are also highlights on this album. Trouble Train starts the entire ball rolling. All in all, this album is a hell of a ride, from beginning to end.

Brian Setzer does it Again!

I just bought this album, and it's one of Brian's best so far. I especially like "Mr. Surfer Goes Jazzin'" and "Elena". They show his guitar prowess and fabulous arrangements, as do most of the songs on this new CD. Brian Setzer ROCKS! And, the album cover is the best I've seen in a long time, whoever came up with the green guitar and background should be commended.

Hot Rod

For those who have had the pleasure of seeing Brian Setzer live you understand the complexity and soul in each and every one of his songs and solos. You would also know that Setzer struts across the stage in creepers (raised rockabilly shoes), tight flame decorated leather pants, a carefree smile, and straycat strut while he plays solos more complicated than others have dreamed of with ease. Each and every album comtinues to grow bigger and better, wether he is solo, back with the straycats, or with the orchestra Setzer knows how to play and continues to prove it to the world.
