iTunes Review

It only makes sense for Breaking Benjamin to bequeath a best-of album — they’ve been at it for over a decade and with four albums in the can (and some stellar B-sides and rarities peppering the deluxe edition), Shallow Bay: The Best of Breaking Benjamin is an apt celebration of their journey thus far. The first half chronologically sequences all their singles starting with their first recorded song, the post-grunge hit "Polyamorous" which landed the band a deal with Hollywood Records. The catchy “Skin” follows — since Breaking Benjamin hardly ever play the tune live, this one has become a coveted fan favorite. The brooding “Medicate” shifts gears with the kinds of pensive lyrics and detuned guitars that never would have happened without Nirvana and a big anthemic stadium chorus that owes a lot to Stone Temple Pilots. A remixed version of “Blow Me Away” turns up with the honey-voiced Valora contributing some guest vocals. From the 11 tracks that make up the deluxe edition it’s hard not to fall for a heavy cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence.”

Best of BB

All of these songs are good but they need to put out a new CD, not just reselling the old ones!

umm....ok?

Its called shallow bay but shallow bay,one of the best songs isn't even on here...that makes sense

Pathetic

First off, you dont put out a greatest hits album after less than 10 years. Leave that to legendary artists with 15 or more years of experience. Dont get me wrong, Breaking Benjamin is good but they dont have the musical experience to put out this album. The worst part is this album wasnt even supported by the man the band is named after. This record company doesnt give a crap about this band, and they just want the money. They rushed this album which contains mostly slow songs that are mediocre at best. Anybody who supports this release is not a true Breaking Benjamin fan in my book. Do not buy this album and support the people who stabbed Ben Burnley in the back. If you really want these new tracks just torrent them and save the further disgrace this album has already brought to a once great band.

Pennsylvania natives Breaking Benjamin, named after founder and lead singer Ben Burnley, play a brand of metal-tinged alternative rock that came to define the sound of mainstream rock in the early 2000s. Indebted equally to the minor-chord dirges of first-wave grunge rockers like Alice in Chains and the pyrotechnic bombast of vintage arena rock, Breaking Benjamin became one of the most popular rock bands in the United States, scoring a number one with the single "Breath" in 2007. Two of their albums,...
