The dance floor is burning up. Thanks, Yoko!

Fast-footed admirers of Yoko Ono's unique blend of rock, funk and "music of the mind" (as she has called it - or is it music from outer space or somewhere deep in the soul?) will dig these remixes by some of today's top DJ-producers of "Give Me Something," one of her best-known song's from "Double Fantasy," the John Lennon/Yoko Ono album that was originally released in December 1980.

These latest releases continue the re-examination by contemporary music producers of some of Ono's most inventive songs and their definitive, original recorded versions from the past (such as "Open Your Box," "Yang Yang" and "Walking on Thin Ice"). These newer remixes have been flowing from their studios and turntables over the past several years. Each new batch has shed new light on - and offered hot new beats for - Ono's musical ideas while highlighting the essential character - and energy and emotion - of each song.

At 77 years young, Yoko just recently celebrated her birthday with a blow-out of a concert in New York. With these new remixes, Ono and her creative producer pals have once again proved that she and her music are just too cool for school.

Kudos to Ono

Ono is a true inspiration doing dance music that is cutting edge. The remixes are wonderful.

Few women in the history of rock & roll have stirred as much controversy as Yoko Ono. Although her romance with John Lennon was hardly the only factor straining the relationships between the individual Beatles, she made a convenient scapegoat for the group's breakup, and was repeatedly raked over the coals in the media for the influence she held over Lennon, both in his life and his music. Ono's own work as an artist and musician didn't mitigate the public's enmity toward her; to the average man...
