Music like this has been a Long Time Needed

“Long Time Coming” is a wonderful album. Jonny Lang lets loose creative genius in this album. When you couple Jonny’s sounds-like-he’s-been-playing-music-for-forty-years super-musical capabilities and his unique and excellent voice with a desire to make music *like he wanted to*, you get excellent music that will withstand the storms of critics. From the soulful “Give Me Up Again” (my favorite tune on this album) to the rockin’ tonkin’ thoughtful “Happiness And Misery”, “Long Time Coming” is a flexible and diverse work worthy of a key place in anyone’s music collection.

Best Yet!

I'll be honest, when I first heard this album it wasn't exactly the Jonny Lang I've come to know. I'll even go as far to say that I just didn't like it. That being said once I was able to listen to it with an open mind I really began to appreciate it. I think this is who Jonny Lang really is. He's written most of the music himself. I think it's obvious to the listener that there's more of his heart in this album than anything else he's done. There's still plenty of moments to satisfy Jonny's hard core blues fans but this album has so much more. It's an incredible mix of Blues, Rock, Funk, Soul...I love it. In an industry full of sound-a-likes Jonny Lang gives me hope that there are still great musicians out there. The best part is, he's young and God willing we'll have him around for a long time.

Amazing!! (Thank you, "Just For You")

The new iTunes "Just For You" feature steered me to Jonny Lang, and I was flabbergasted -- this kid is amazing! He has the most natural voice for the blues since Jimmy Hall, frontman for the great Southern rock band Wet Willie, and the guitar playing sounds like a cross between B.B. King and Eric Clapton. Wow! Sample "To Love Again," "Long Time Coming" and "Livin' for the City" to get an idea of Lang's vocal and musical range. He has three albums on iTunes, and I bought them all!

Born: January 29, 1981 in Fargo, ND

Genre: Blues

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Modern blues in the '90s had a weird phenomenon of teenage blues guitarists rocketing to popularity with their first album. The entire trend culminated with Jonny Lang, a guitarist from Fargo, North Dakota, who released his solo debut album, Lie to Me, when he was 15. At the age of 12, he had attended a show by the Bad Medicine Blues Band and began playing with the group. Several months later he became the leader, and the newly renamed Kid Jonny Lang & the Big Bang relocated from Fargo to Minneapolis...
