Album Review

More than competent pop-rock from Kihn and company, but with nothing new in the way of growth. The originals are on the usual Kihn-ness, and on Glass House Rock the covers the band chooses are "For Your Love," a hit for the Yardbirds, and Gene Pitney's "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." Both cuts are done in tried and true fashion.

Won't Throw A Rock

This is a solid compilation of songs. Desire Me is heavy, Small Change is on the lighter side, and the rest of the album floats well between those ends of the spectrum. I bought the album for The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Night After Night, and For Your Love.

A Good MIx

This is a good mix of songs, alternating heavier songs like "Desire Me" "Things To Come" & "The Only Dance..." with poppier songs like "Anna Belle Lee" & "Small Change". As an extra added bonus you get some lead vocals by Steve Wright & Larry Lynch which also helps to mix things up. "Liberty Valance" is a real hoot. The other thing that's apparent throughout the album is how good these guys were on harmonies. Checkout how even a lesser song like "Serenade Her" is rescued by those great harmonies. I have a tape recorded off the radio from a local SF station at the time this came out, and the live versions of some of the songs from this LP bring even more to them. Sure would like to see that concert released sometime.
