Customer Reviews

a little disappointed

I saw Amanda Ghost on Jimmy Kimmel Live. She was fantastic. At that time she had no CDs available. Now that her CD is out, it has nothing of the raw edge she had on the Kimmel show. Most of the songs on this CD sound very similar. If you're looking for background music, then this might be ok for you, otherwise, it's pretty average. I think she's far more interesting and dynamic than the work on this CD project indicates, at least I hope so. She's a great talent, and I hope her next project will show more of her range.

Something New, Exciting and Wonderful

Amanda Ghost has the most haunting sound I have heard in years. If you aren't hooked within the first few seconds of any cut on this album, you deserve contemporary popular music in all its mediocrity! She has just the right mix of interesting, catchy hooks with electronica, orchestral and just about anything else you could ask for. It's an odd collection of instrumentation and sound - but it works! What I find particularly amazing about this artist and this album is how fantastic it is to listen to the tracks over and over againl. They never get stale; never get boring and you'll always find something new with each listen. I highly recommend this album to anyone who wants something new that will play in your head long after you've turned off the CD player (or computer or iPod).

A surprise Gem

Amanda Ghost was first introduced to me when I was watching the TV show Roswell. A few years back when the WB was just starting, they had some great shows. Roswell, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel; not only were the shows innovative but the music was so good. Amanda Ghost's song Silver Lining was feature in a few episodes of Roswell. The sound of Ms. ghost's voice was hypnotic. I immediately searched the internet to see who had sung this beautiful song. I immediately went out and bought the Ghost Stories CD. From start to finish the CD takes you on a melodic journey. Beginning with the ultra bass of the opening song to the romantic dreaminess of Numb, this album is definitely a must have. Amanda Ghost has one of the most unique voices I have heard in a while. Some Highlights of the Album are Idol, Blind Man, Silver Lining and A child Believes. I definitely recommend this whole Album ad I hope she releases some new material soon.

Born: London, England

Female singer/songwriter Amanda Ghost is no Britney Spears. In fact, she's in a league of her own when delivering her brassy, ambient club sound. Already a pop star in her native England, Amanda Ghost is of Spanish and Indian decent and cites the musical likes of Nat King Cole, Nina Simone, the Doors, Depeche Mode, and Prince as influencing her career. While studying at the London College of Fashion, Ghost also found her hand in hardcore punk, techno beats, and classic folk rhythms prior to her first...
