THE Embo's!

I used to see these guys play and they "owned" OTWH in Lawrence,KS. Man, I love those days!

Not Just For The Nostalgic

I remember them from Lawrence too, but this is so much more than just a trip down memory land. The Embarrassment were the best band Kansas ever produced. Today's so called punks could learn a few good lessons from this record. 1)a song can be about anything (Wellsville). 2) our disposable culture is fodder for music that criticizes it as well as celebrates it (Art Party, Special Eyes) 3) Teenage angst is okay to write about too (Sex Drive).

As a band that remained virtually underground, most of their fans probably heard them first on bootleg cassettes. You can still relive those days by going to their web site where they have a long playing copy of old live tapes you can listen to for free.

That said, who had a better rhythm section at the time? Listen to those drums and bass, that intense slash and burn guitar, and then over it all vocals that range from arch and arty, to sincere without a trace of irony.

Glad to be able to play something other than my old worn out vinyl and cassettes.

Though they toured and recorded consistently from their formation in 1979 till their...
